3 Ways to be Spirit-Led in Your Business

ORIGINAL POST 4/5/2022

In the previous blog post, we discussed the importance of tapping into the vision that you have for your business and how that vision can impact the success of your business, and we looked at the vision statement for several well-known companies.  If you missed that post, be sure to check it out ‘What’s the vision you have for your business?’

Today, let’s move from vision to action and focus on Holy Spirit-Led Action. Watch this throwback Marketing Monday video below or read the summary to discover 3 ways to take Spirit-Led Action in your business.

REVISED AND REPOSTED:

3 Ways to be Spirit-Led in Your Business:

1. OPPORTUNITIES

Opportunity – Business owners and entrepreneurs come across opportunities unexpectedly all the time. Many opportunities we experience are not planned and some of them are not for us. When we are presented with an opportunity we have a feeling of being led and sometimes we do not. We must know the difference of being led to an opportunity and being presented with an opportunity. It really is a matter of being active or being passive.

When we are led to an opportunity it is because we are actively seeking it out. This can show up as networking, updating your skillset, staying aware of what you are looking for, taking initiative, having a growth mindset, and/or preparing for the opportunity.

When we are presented to an opportunity it is something that simply happens without effort. This can show up as someone in your network suggests or offers and opportunity, waiting for something to happen, reacting to opportunities only when they are presented, and/or staying in your comfort zone.

2. IDEAS

Ideas – Ideas come and go by the minute because we see and hear a lot about and from other businesses. Every idea we have is not for us to take action on. However, when an idea is dropped in our spirit, we begin to feel that tug at our hearts. This is a tug that we feel strongly and it seems it will not leave us.

Here are a few ways to know if an idea requires us to take action:

  • intellectual or emotional. You determine this by understanding if it was simply information or if the information caused an emotional reaction to take action. Ideas that are for you will be both intellectual and emotional.
  • external or internal validation. Hearing ideas rely on external input, but knowing an idea is for you requires internal validation and must be in alignment with your values and beliefs.
  • temporary or lasting. We hear a high volume of ideas regularly and these fade away rather quickly. However, ideas that are for us tend to stick with us and influence our thoughts and actions.

3. COLLABORATIONS

Collaborations – We connect with people all the time in person and online. God creates divine connections. Divine connections are appointed times that you are to be with others to deliver and/or receive a specific message. We are here to do the work we are called to do, but it is not necessary for it to be done alone all the time. Pay attention to the collaborations and partnerships that present themselves in your business.

Collaboration has its benefits and drawbacks so it is important to take careful consideration before collaborating.

Collaboration is beneficial when potential collaborators have skills, knowledge, or resources that fill gaps in your business. Relationship building is the foundation of collaboration because it strengthens professional networks and create opportunities for future partnerships. Bringing together different or diverse perspectives and experiences can spark creativity and lead to innovative solutions that wouldn’t be possible working in isolation.

Good Idea v God Idea

REVISED AND REPOSTED:
ORIGINAL BLOG POSTED ON 6/1/2021

A couple of years ago, I was on an interview and I was asked, “What do you think is the difference between a good idea and God’s idea?”  The interviewer felt like all good things come from God so if it’s a good idea then move forward with it.

At the time, I didn’t have a clear point of view of a good idea versus a God idea, but several months later it became crystal clear what the difference was. So in this blog post, I will share the revelation that I received regarding a good idea v. God idea.

As entrepreneurs and business owners, we usually have more ideas than the average person, and many ideas could be considered good ideas. The question then is, as believers in business how do we determine whether to move forward with a good idea and whether the idea is a God thing or simply a good thing!

The biggest way to know the difference is to recognize the difference between a good idea and a God idea:

8 ways a mastermind group can help you grow your business

I’ve been involved in mastermind groups for over 8 years. Mastermind groups are an amazing way to grow your business. Through masterminds, I have been able to gain new clients, grow my business, and make valuable connections.

So what exactly is a Mastermind? The concept of business masterminds became popular from the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill defined as “The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony. No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind [the master mind].”

I also like the definition provided in this article Mastermind Groups: Everything You Need to Know by Ramsey Solutions, it says, “a Mastermind group consists of a small group of people who want to grow in some capacity at an accelerated rate. Because of this, they commit to getting together regularly—online or in person—to discuss goals, get support and advice for their challenges, and build a network of like-minded professionals who keep them accountable.

In this post I will share 8 ways a mastermind can help to grow your business.

1. Connections

When you are in an intimate mastermind you make lifelong connections and friendships. These connections allow you to grow in life and in business. With these connections it opens you up to the member’s of your masterminds network and connections, which helps you to go further faster

2. Collaborations

Your mastermind peers can be great collaboration partners. I have partnered with and collaborated with several individuals from the various mastermind groups that I have participated in. These collaborations have helped to grow my business

3. Referrals

Referrals can be one of the best ways to grow your business and I have given and received several referrals from members of my mastermind groups.  Although giving referrals is not a requirement for being in mastermind group, it is a natural thing that tends to occur in a mastermind group

4. Focus

Being involved in a mastermind group that also includes content and curriculum really helps you to focus on the key things that you need to do to grow your business

5. Accountability

A mastermind group helps you to stay accountable to the things that you said you will do and the goals that you set for your business

6. Support

A mastermind group can offer you a safe and supportive environment to be vulnerable with what is going on in your life and in your business

7. Resources

Through my mastermind group I have learned about various tools that have helped me to be more effective and efficient in my business

8. Clarity

One of the advantages of a mastermind is being able to come to the group with a specific issue, problem, struggle or challenge and getting a fresh perspective on how to come to a solution

And this is why I have been a member of various mastermind groups and why I lead and facilitate my own mastermind group, The Master’s Mind:  A powerful mastermind for women of faith in business.

As a member of The Master’s Mind, you will get all of the above and more. In addition, this mastermind focuses on not only your business growth, but your personal and spiritual growth too.

Celebrating Women’s History Month

March is Women’s History Month which gives us the opportunity to remind ourselves of the many accomplishments of women throughout history including our contribution to culture, society, science, politics and my favorite…business!

Did you know that originally Women’s History was marked by one day but has since evolved to a full month?

Here’s 5 fun facts about Women’s History Month.

  1. The first Women’s History Day was held in 1909
  2. The day became Women’s History Week in 1978
  3. In 1987, it became Women’s History Month
  4. Since 1995, every president has issued a proclamation declaring March Women’s History Month
  5. Every Women’s History Month has a theme, this year’s theme is “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope,”

Let’s take time to reflect on the theme this month and think of ways we can provide healing and hope especially during these challenging times in the world.  Also, let’s take the time to celebrate the many accomplishments and achievements that women have made to society and in the world!  Happy Women’s History Month!

The impact of a mission statement on your business

We have talked about vision and purpose in our previous videos, and today’s focus is

Mission Statement – what your company will do on a daily basis to make your vision a reality. It should include who you serve, what you serve and how you do it. Vision is your long-term goal.  Your mission is your daily activity, your grind or hustle to improve the world, your industry or marketplace.

My mission is to stop RAM.  RAM is Random Acts of Marketing.  We need to have strategic marketing plans so we can achieve more clients and money in our business.

The importance of mission statements in business is that people like to get behind missions. If your business mission statement is articulated clearly you will attract your ideal client.

What’s the VISION you have for your business?

I love the quote by Helen Keller that says, “The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no VISION”.  Vision is so important in life and especially in business.  As believers we should be partnering with God to receive a God-given vision for our businesses.  His word says in Proverbs [29:18]-  Where there is no VISION, the people perish; but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

So let’s focus on what is means to have a God-given vision for our business with the word of the day from this Marketing Monday video from 2020: To help us focus to begin the process of focusing on VISION take a look at the video or read the summary to learn more.

What’s the vision you have for your business?

I give a few examples of business vision statements for popular companies in my marketing planner, THE BEST MARKETING PLANNER. For instance, Google’s vision is to provide access to the world’s information in one click. Nike’s vision statement is to bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world. Zappos’ vision statement is all about happiness; they want to deliver happiness to customers, employers, and vendors. American Express wants respect because their vision is to work hard every day to make American Express the world’s most respected service brand.

We learn from those vision statement examples that vision statements are more about what they want their product or service to accomplish in the world versus being specific about the service or product itself.

In the Bible, God gave Abraham a vision that he will be the father of many nations.  At the time Abraham and his wife were very old and had no kids, so the God-given vision seemed impossible in the natural, but we serve a God who is super natural. The vision that He gives us supersedes the natural world.

My company’s vision is to become a trusted resource and support for faith-based women entrepreneurs and business owners who want to increase their impact, influence, and income. I believe in the ripple effect…..if a woman is able to accomplish her vision then you will see it in every part of her life including her family, community, country, and worldwide.

What do you want your product or service to accomplish to make the world a better place?  (Drop your vision statement and/or your comments and thoughts in the comment section)

Why tapping into your PURPOSE can elevate your business

Did you know that when you are clear on your WHY it can elevate your business? Today’s post is all about how tapping into the PURPOSE of your business can elevate your business. Watch the video below, or read the post to learn the benefits of purpose in your business.

Your business purpose is the specific business intent for which your company has been founded. Your business purpose statement states your business purpose in one or two sentences.

Clarity offers what you do in your business and why your company does what it does. Focus helps to guide your decisions in business as to what falls under your business purpose. Your business purpose gives your business and actions meaning.

Here is a quick exercise to help you form your business purpose statement:

My business was founded to ___________________________________.
