5 Lessons I Learned While on Vacation in Greece

July- Blog Post 1

I believe in the importance of balancing your life.  I know the term “Work Life Balance” is used a lot, but I could never understand how people balance work and life, your work is a part of your life, so I prefer to call it professional life v. personal life balance.

I believe in the importance of working hard, but I also believe in the importance of taking time off from work to enjoy personal time often.

Because of this belief, I routinely take vacations and time off from work (professional life).  I try to take a least one week vacation every quarter, so by the end of the year, I would have taken four weeks (a full month) off.  This to me is sooo important in order for me to refresh, reflect, and recharge so I can be the BEST person I can be.

Email Marketing v. Marketing Automation, Which One Should You Be Using?

I have been in the world of email marketing for over 15 years; I remember taking a class on email marketing back in 2000 when I was studying for my Master’s in Business Administration.  A lot has changed in the online world since 2000, but email marketing has remained an important way for businesses to communicate online.

However, in more recent years, Marketing Automation, which includes the use of email marketing has become popular.  In order to understand the real difference between Email Marketing and Marketing Automation, we must first look at the definition of both:

How to Spring Clean Your Email List To Improve Your Email Marketing Results

We hear a lot of talk in the online world about the importance of growing your email list.  Your email list tends to be the core of your business online.  Although this is true, I recently wrote a blog post about Why You Shouldn’t Build an Email ListIf you missed that post, be sure to check it out.

The main point of the post was to suggest that BEFORE you build your list, you should have an Email Marketing Plan because it’s important to know how you want to support the people on your list, and how you plan to monetize your list.  Without knowing these two key points ahead of time, then building a massive list is pointless!

Is Email Marketing Dead?

Is Email Marketing Dead?

I remember it like it was yesterday, it was 1998 and businesses were just starting to use this new thing called web-based email.  I was working for a financial institution and we were using an AOL email address for business until the IT Department declared that we must use the new corporate email addresses.

In the beginning email was very much considered just a way to communicate with staff and vendors via the Internet.  It was mainly used to communicate with other employees internally and a handful of vendors or partners.

However, a couple of years later email started to be considered a viable marketing communication channel for businesses.  A way for businesses to communicate with customers and prospects.

Why You Shouldn’t Build Your Email List

Why You Shouldn’t Build Your Email List

Email Marketing is one of the B.E.S.T. modern marketing strategies and one that I always recommend for coaches, consultants, and service business owners.

However, you shouldn’t build your email list until you have an email marketing plan.  Many people make the mistakes of building a list and then they don’t have a strategic email marketing plan that will allow them to get business from their email marketing.
