Recently, our world was required to shelter in place. This was a very new experience for most of us and most of us will never see it again. However, the shelter in place caused us to pause our regular activities. We had to learn new ways to live and work. You can review more about this in last my blog – Collective Pause of 2020.
This week I want to take a look at one of the areas that pausing allows us to focus on…REST. REST is the first part of pausing.
Rest is a crucial factor in business success and it is often overlooked, especially by entrepreneurs. By allowing time to recharge both mentally and physically, rest becomes a powerful tool for business owners.
Take a look at the video or read the summary below to learn 4 Ways REST Can Help Your Business
4 Ways Rest Can Help Your Business:
1. Decision Making
As business owners, we are responsible for making decisions in our business. I have chosen to make decisions only after I have slept on it. This allows me time to make the decision well-rested versus being slightly agitated or overwhelmed by the day’s events.
Fatigue and stress can cloud judgment and lead to poor choices. Well-rested individuals are better equipped to view situations objectively, weigh the options, and make sound decisions.
2. Ideas
It’s important to have ideas to grow our business and to determine the next steps in our business. Taking a shower allows us to relax our mind, body, and soul which frees us to think more clearly. Enjoy the benefits of the flow of water!
Rest, especially sleep, plays a crucial role in developing new ideas that can lead to creative solutions for your business or for your customers. Many people report having their best ideas during or immediately after periods of rest. Taking breaks or including downtime throughout the day or week can inspire more creativity.
3. Clarity
When you are not clear on something, rest helps you to gain clarity. Nature helps facilitate rest and relaxation which opens you up to receiving clarity.
Rest helps clear mental fog, increase focus and improve how well you process information. Well-rested individuals can more easily see the big picture, distinguish between important and urgent matters, and communicate their ideas more effectively.
4. Increase in Energy
Business owners have to wear many hats to accomplish success. This can weigh down your energy. Extreme stress and overwhelm without adequate rest can lead to burnout. Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion. By prioritizing rest and encouraging a healthy work-life balance, your business can maintain a more stable and productive environment.
It is a great idea to have a day of rest weekly where there is no work, just rest. This allows the mind, body, and soul to rejuvenate and be better prepared to tackle the tasks for the next day or upcoming week.
Be sure you are taking the time to rest intentionally. Having an adequate amount of rest prepares you to manage your business properly. Rest helps you with your decision making, ideas, clarity, and increased energy.
