4 Powerful Habits That Can Help You Achieve More

Apr- Blog Post 3

Most of the time my blog posts are focused on Marketing strategies.  Strategies you can use in your business to get more business, but today’s blog post is focused on one of the biggest assets in your business –  YOU!

When running a business, it is important to take time out and take care of yourself on a daily basis, and a helpful way to make sure that this happens is to incorporate self-help habits in your daily routine.

For me, I have four powerful habits that I include in my daily routine every morning.  Some habits I have been practicing for years, and others I have just added into my routine recently.

These four habits help me to stay focused and to get the best out of my day:

  1. DEVOTION

Every morning I start my day with devoted time to connect with my Creator.  I have been doing this for years.  Every year I purchase a new devotional book that has 365 daily inspirations.  I prefer the devotionals that have the date on each page, so I know exactly what page to turn to each morning.  My favorite devotional author is Joyce Meyers.  This year I am reading her devotional, The Confident Woman.  Starting my day reading a page from my devotional helps me to focus on connecting with the Word.  Each page has a scripture verse, an explanation of that scripture and how you can apply it in your life, and then a written prayer.  For me, reading my devotion every day is the absolute BEST way to start my day!

  2. PRAYER

After I read my devotional, I pray.  Prayer is a powerful thing that many people shy away from talking about, but prayer is a direct communication line between you and your Creator.  It’s like picking up the phone and talking to the person you are closest to every single morning.  My prayers usually ask for guidance and protection for the day I am about to start and I ask for the same for my family, friends, and world at large.  I then pray for more specific things as it may relate to the message in the devotion I just read, or a struggle that I, a family member, or a friend may be going through, and I always express my gratitude for what God has done and will do in my life.

  3. MEDITATION

Meditation is something that I recently added to my morning routine.  About two years ago I took a free 21-day meditation series with Oprah & Deepak, and it was life changing.  Meditation is a powerful thing, it really forces you to be still and to still your mind, which is not an easy task.  I find it hard to meditate on my own, so guided meditations like the ones offered by Oprah and Deepak are really helpful.   They cover different topics, I went through the guided meditation, Expanding Your Happiness.  Although I prefer guided meditations, because it helps stop my mind from wondering, if I am not currently doing a guided meditation, I just meditate on the message in the devotion that I read that morning.  This helps me to focus on one thing and helps with the mind drift.

  4. VISUALIZATION

Visualization is a very new thing that I have added to my morning ritual.  I have heard of and created vision boards, but not until recently did I learn about the power of visualization.  Visualization is very similar to meditation in that it occurs in your mind’s eye, but is different because you are visualizing a particular scene, a particular desire, a particular want in your life.  I don’t know the science behind it, but when you practice visualization you involve your subconscious in making the picture in your mind’s eye to become a reality.  It’s important for us to visualize things before they happen.  It’s important for us to see the things we desire and make it feel so real that we can taste it, touch it, and feel it before it ever happens.  Visualization is powerful and something that I have recently decided to add to my morning routine.

These four things are powerful morning habits that help me to create a life and business that I love.  What things do you do in the morning that helps you stay focused and achieve more in your day?  Be sure to comment below.
