As an entrepreneur, small business owner, coach or consultant, you may not have thought that giving back can be a GREAT marketing strategy for your business, but it can, and it allows your company to make a BIG impact.
In this blog post, I share two ways that your company can include giving back, and how it impacts your business, your community and the world at large.
I define a social business as a socially conscious business whose business model revolves around giving back and making an impact in the world. An example of a socially conscious business is TOMS.
TOMS is a shoe company that matches every pair of shoes purchased with a new pair of shoes for a child in need. One for One®.
The concept for the business began as a simple idea and has evolved into a powerful business model that helps address a need and advance health, education and economic opportunity for children and their communities around the world.
Cause Marketing is when a business or company gets behind a particular organization and helps raise funds for the organization for a particular period of time.
It could be by giving a percentage of the company’s profits to the organization, or it could simply be by raising funds for an organization.
A company that comes to mind that does this on a consistent basis is Publix. Publix Supermarket raises funds for several organizations by asking their customers to donate to the cause at the register when they are checking out.
The causes Publix supports change and the period of fund raising varies, but Publix has added this Cause Marketing to their overall marketing strategy in an effort to consistently give back and to make an impact.
Whether you’re a social business or you participate in Cause Marketing, giving back can have a major impact for your business. You create loyal clients who also believe in the cause(s) you support and you show that your business is not just about profit, but also about making an impact in the community and in the world, which leads to more business for your company.
Being a social business and participating in Cause Marketing is something I have always wanted to do, but have not added this to my Marketing Plan until recently.
I am pleased to announce that in conjunction with #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration, which falls on Tuesday, November 27th this year, I am offering a discount on one of my most popular services and giving back to The Unstoppable Foundation, a non-profit humanitarian organization bringing sustainable education to children and communities in developing countries, thereby creating a safer and more just world for everyone, and I would love for you to join me in the movement of giving back.
