Get More Traffic to Your Blog By Using These Tools

When using blogging as a marketing strategy for your coaching or consulting business, it can be helpful to have tools that make your blogging easier and help you to get more traffic to your blog.  In my last post, I talked about one of the main tools I use to help me stay organized, consistent and helps with blog traffic.  If you missed that post, be sure to check it out.

In this next post in my series of Essential Marketing Tools, I’m sharing some other tools that I use that can help improve the traffic to your blog:

  1.  Headline Analyzer–  Your headline is sooo important when it comes to your blog post.  Your headline will determine whether people will click on your post when you promote it on social media or via email, and can even influence your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) ranking.  So here are three headline analyzing tools you can use to create amazing headlines for your blog posts:
    1. As I mentioned in my last post, I use CoSchedule’s Blog Post Headline Analyzer to help me to evaluate my headlines before I decide on a final headline to use in my post.  It super easy to use, you just paste your headline in the box and press “Analyze Now”, then you will get an analysis of your headline including a score.CoSchedule Headline Analyzer
    2. There are other headline tools out there that can help you with creating your headline like Portent’s Content Idea Generator, which helps you come up with not only a headline, but it creates an interesting spin on your subject.  All you have to do is put in a subject and it will create an interesting headline for you.
    3. Another headline analyzer that I was recently introduced to is the Advanced Marketing Institute’s Emotional Marketing Value Headline Analyzer. You simply enter your headline and select your type of business or industry, and it will analyze your headline to determine the Emotional Marketing Value (EMV) score.
  2. Headline Image–  Having the right images on your blog can really help to keep your reader engaged.  One key image is your headline graphic.  Your headline graphic is usually the first image in your blog post.  It’s a good idea to have the title of the blog in the first image.  It isn’t necessary for the image to be a picture, it can just be an image that includes your title.  Here are a couple of image resources:
    1. I use Quizio, which is really a quote app that you can place quotes on backgrounds.  I place my blog title and select a background appropriate either for the post or for my brand.  It’s a quick an easy way to create a headline image.

    2. When I want to use pictures, I make sure I use a royalty-free picture site and purchase the picture to make sure I am not in violation of any copyright issues when posting pictures on my blog.  There are a ton of royalty-free picture sites, but I find iStock Photo has the best quality pictures.  You can purchase credits as you go which start at $12 for 1 credit, or you can sign-up for a subscription starting at $40/month for 10 credits.
    3. Another popular royalty-free photo website is ShutterstockI haven’t used them for my images, but they are very similar in quality to iStock Photo.  I just find there is a better selection on iStock Photo.  Shutterstock has three pricing packs Basic, Professional, and Team.  Basic starts at $29 for 2 images, Professional starts at $199/month, and Team starts at $299/month.
  3. Content Amplifier–  A great way to amplify your blog content is by allowing others to share your content on social media.  The two tools I use to help amplify my content are:
    1. CoSchedule’s Click to Tweet tool-  this tool allows you to embed tweets into your post, so you would select the pieces of content in your post that you feel will resonate the most with your audience, and then embed that tweet within the copy of your post.  This makes it easier for people to tweet your content to their followers.  The tweet automatically includes a link back to your blog post.  See example below:[Tweet “A great way to amplify your blog content is by allowing others to share your content on social media. #Blogging #MarketingEssentials”]
    2. SumoMe’s Social Media Sharing tool- this tool allows you to embed social sharing icons on your website so readers can easily share your content on social media by simply clicking on their social network of chose and then sharing your post.

These are just 3 types of tools I use to make my blogging effort better.  How about you?  What tools do you use to get more traffic to your site?
